Wal-Mart Recalls 1.2 Million Electric Water Kettles Made in China—Burn and Shock Hazard

(RTTNews.com) – Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) is recalling about 1.2 million Rival brand electric water kettles manufactured in China after several reports of burns and shocks were reported.recall alert_1462312630852_1256644_ver1.0_640_360

The recall involves kettles with model numbers WK8283CU and WK8283CUY, which were sold exclusively at Walmart stores from March 2011 through October 2015 for about $14.

“The heating element can fail and rupture, posing burn and shock hazards to the user,” Wal-Mart said in a statement. Walmart has asked customers to immediately stop using the product and return it a Walmart store for a full refund.
